But one day, they figured out how to make things called axes out of a special kind of rock called volcanic tuff. This rock was found in a place called Langdale in England.

So, when people wanted axes, they went to Langdale and found big pieces of this tuff rock. Then they used special tools to break it into little pieces and shape it into axes! They made lots and lots of axes because they were really useful for chopping things like trees and animals.

People from all over the place came to Langdale to get these axes because they were the best. They even traded them with people in different parts of the world. The Langdale Axe Industry went on for a really long time, and it helped a lot of people do their work more efficiently.
