Languages of Brazil

Brazil is a country that has many different kinds of people living in it. This means there are many different languages spoken in Brazil!

One of the most common languages spoken in Brazil is Portuguese. This is because Brazil was once a colony of Portugal, which means that Portuguese people ruled over Brazil for a long time. Today, Portuguese is the official language of Brazil and almost everyone who lives there speaks it.

But that's not the only language spoken in Brazil! Many people who live in Brazil also speak other languages like Spanish, German, Italian, Japanese, and many indigenous languages that were spoken in Brazil long before Portuguese people came along.

These indigenous languages are very important for the culture of Brazil because they hold the history and traditions of the native people who were born and raised in Brazil. Some of the most common indigenous languages spoken in Brazil are Guarani and Tupi.

So if you go to Brazil, you might hear many different languages being spoken! But don't worry, most people in Brazil will be happy to speak with you in Portuguese or English if you don't understand their native language.
