Languages of Nepal

In Nepal, people speak many different languages. Just like you might learn to speak English at school, people in Nepal learn different languages too. Some of the main languages spoken in Nepal are Nepali, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Tharu, Tamang, and Newari.

If you go to different parts of Nepal, you might hear people speaking different languages. For example, in the hilly areas, Tamang and Sherpa are commonly spoken. In the Terai region, Maithili and Bhojpuri are more widely spoken.

Nepali is the most common language spoken in Nepal. It is the official language of the country and is spoken by most Nepali people. It is very important to know Nepali if you want to communicate with people in Nepal.

Other languages, such as Tharu, are spoken by people who live in rural areas. They may not have learned Nepali or another common language, so they communicate with each other in Tharu.

Newari is another language that is spoken by people living in the Kathmandu Valley. It is a very old language and has been around for centuries.

In Nepal, it is important to respect and value all of the different languages that people speak. By doing so, we can learn about different cultures and traditions and make our world a more diverse and accepting place.
