Languages of the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is a country made up of four parts - England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. Each of these four parts has its own language, which people in that part of the UK usually speak. In England, the main language is English. In Scotland, the main language is Scottish Gaelic. In Wales, the main language is Welsh. In Northern Ireland, the main language is Irish. Some people in each of these parts also speak other languages, especially English. English is the most common language spoken throughout the four parts of the United Kingdom.
