ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Large format lens

So, you know how when you take a picture with a camera, the person or object in the picture looks just like they do in real life, right? Well, that's because the camera has a special lens that helps make everything look the right size and in focus.

Now imagine you want to take a REALLY big picture of something, like a whole building or landscape. You can't just use any old camera - you need something much bigger! That's where a large format camera comes in.

But remember, the bigger the picture, the bigger the lens needs to be. That's where a large format lens comes in. A large format lens is super-duper big and heavy - way bigger than the lens on a regular camera. That's because it has to be able to fit a huge image onto a piece of film that's also really big.

So when you use a large format camera and lens, you can take pictures that are bigger and more detailed than you could with a regular camera. It's like having superpowers for taking pictures!
