ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lashon hara

Lashon hara means saying bad things about someone else behind their back. It's kind of like gossiping, where you talk about someone in a mean way when they're not around.

Now, when someone does something wrong, it's important to tell someone who can help fix the problem. But lashon hara is different because it's just talking about someone without any good reason.

Lashon hara can hurt the person's reputation, make other people think bad things about them, and even cause them to lose friends. This is not being nice to others, and it's not what we should do. We should always try to be kind and speak good things about others.
