Lasso (statistics)

Lasso is a tool used in statistics that helps us get rid of some of the extra numbers too many numbers in a row can create. It's kind of like when you have a bunch of blocks and you want to build a tower but there are too many blocks and you don't have enough space to fit them all in. Lasso helps you find the right number of blocks that fit in the tower so that you don't have any leftovers. The way it does this is by assigning a "weight" to each block. It looks at how important each block is to the overall tower and it only keeps the blocks with the highest weight. Think of it like picking out friends to invite to a party - you only want the ones who are special to you and your tower, not all of them. That's lasso in a nutshell!
