Late Cenozoic Ice Age

Hey kiddo! Have you ever heard of an ice age before? It's when the Earth gets really cold and a lot of ice covers the land.

Well, a long time ago, during something called the Late Cenozoic period, there was an ice age that lasted for a really long time. But don't worry, we don't live in an ice age now!

During the Late Cenozoic ice age, which happened between 2.6 million and 11,700 years ago, the Earth's temperature dropped and the ice sheets which covered the North Pole and South Pole started to grow bigger and bigger.

The ice sheets were so large that they covered lots of land and water which is now part of our Earth today. In fact, the ice sheets were so big that they even made the oceans lower!

But the ice age came to an end and it slowly started to get warmer again. This was because of natural climate cycles and some human activities which caused global warming.

So that's what the Late Cenozoic ice age was all about, kiddo! It was a really cold time when a lot of ice covered the Earth, but thankfully, it's all behind us now.
