ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lateral clicks

Lateral clicks are a special sound that some people can make with their mouths. It's like a clicking sound, but instead of making the sound by closing your lips together or blowing air through your mouth, you make the sound by pushing air out on the sides of your tongue. It's kind of like when you suck in air through a straw, but instead of sucking in, you're pushing air out. Some people in certain cultures use lateral clicks as a way of communicating, kind of like how we use words. It's a really cool skill to have, but not everyone can do it!
