Lateral medullary syndrome is when a part of your brainstem gets hurt and it causes a bunch of problems in your body. Your brainstem is like the control center for your body and helps you do things like breathing and moving.
When you get lateral medullary syndrome, your body might feel all mixed up. For starters, one side of your face might be droopy. You might also have a hard time swallowing and your voice might sound funny.
Your arms and legs might feel weak, too. And when you move your eyes, they might shake a lot. You might also have a hard time keeping your balance and feel really dizzy.
If you get lateral medullary syndrome, it's best to see a doctor right away so they can help you feel better and get back to normal.
