ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Latin American Canadians

Latin American Canadians are people who have roots in countries in Latin America, which is a region in the world that includes countries like Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. These people have now made Canada their home, but they still hold onto their culture, traditions, and language from their country of origin.

Just like how you might have friends at school who speak a different language or have different traditions than you do, Latin American Canadians have different ways of doing things too. For example, they might celebrate different holidays, eat different foods, listen to different music, or have different ways of greeting each other.

Some Latin American Canadians might have come to Canada to study, work, or be with family members who already live here. Others might have fled their home country because of danger or political issues. But no matter why they came, Latin American Canadians add to the diversity of Canada and they are proud to share their heritage with others.
