ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Laundry ball

Laundry balls are like special toys that can help clean clothes in the washing machine without needing to use regular laundry detergent. You put the laundry ball in with your clothes and turn on the washing machine just like you normally would.

Inside the laundry ball, there are little beads or pellets that are made of special materials. When the washing machine starts to move, the beads rub against your clothes and create something called "ions" which help scrub the dirt and stains out of the fabric.

Laundry balls are really neat because they are designed to last for a long time, much longer than a bottle of regular laundry detergent. Some laundry balls can last for a whole year, so you don't have to keep buying new detergent all the time.

Plus, laundry balls are really gentle on the environment because they don't create as much waste as regular laundry detergent. That's because the balls don't have any plastic containers or excess packaging.

Overall, laundry balls are a cool and easy way to clean your clothes while also being gentle on the environment. Just remember that you still need to follow the washing machine instructions and make sure you use the right temperature and spin cycle for your clothes.
