ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Law of identity

Imagine you have a toy car. This toy car is special and has a name, let's call it "Benny". Now, Benny the toy car is always going to be Benny.

This is just like the Law of Identity. It's a rule that says something is always going to be itself. If I say "this is a pen", then that thing is always going to be a pen. It can't suddenly turn into a piece of cake or a frog, it's always going to be the same thing - a pen.

So just like you know that Benny the toy car is always going to be Benny, you can also know that other things will always be themselves too, thanks to the Law of Identity!
