Lead

Lead is a type of metal that used to be used in lots of different things like paint, gas, and even toys. However, it's very dangerous if we breathe it in or eat it, especially for kids, because it can make us sick and hurt our brain and body.

Think of it like eating yummy candy that looks delicious but is actually really bad for you - you might not feel sick right away, but it can make you very sick later on.

Nowadays, we know that lead is harmful, so we don't use it as much anymore. But it's still really important to check to make sure old houses, schools, and buildings don't have lead in them because we don't want anyone to get sick. If you ever see or touch something that you think might have lead in it, it's really important to tell an adult so they can help keep you safe.
