Leap of faith

To do something called a leap of faith means to do something even though you aren't sure it will work out, usually because you believe it is the right thing to do. For example, if you want to learn to fly an airplane but are scared because you don't know how, then taking a leap of faith and getting in the plane and trying anyway would be a leap of faith.
