ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Learned optimism

Learned optimism is about learning to think about the bright side of bad things that happen. It's like instead of the glass being half empty, we imagine it as half full. If something bad happens to you, like you getting a bad grade on a test, optimistic people will try and think about the good things that will come from that, like you can use it as a learning experience to study harder for your next test. Being optimistic can help us feel better even when we're going through tough times.
