Lecture bottle

A lecture bottle is a tiny bottle filled with special gas that scientists use to do experiments. The bottle is small enough to fit in one hand, and it has a little valve on top that can be turned to let a small amount of gas out at a time.

Scientists use lecture bottles to do experiments like testing different chemical reactions or studying the properties of gases. The gas inside the bottle is usually something special that can't easily be found in the air around us, like helium or nitrogen.

It's called a "lecture bottle" because it's often used in classrooms during science demonstrations or lectures. Sometimes when a teacher is talking about gases or chemical reactions, they might bring out a lecture bottle to show the class what the gas looks like and how it behaves.

But lecture bottles have to be used very carefully, because the gas inside is often compressed and can be dangerous if handled improperly. Scientists who use lecture bottles have to be trained to handle them safely and store them in a secure place when they're not in use.
