Legacy of the Roman Empire

Okay, so a long time ago, there was a really big and powerful empire called the Roman Empire. They ruled over a lot of places, like Europe and parts of Africa and Asia.

When the Roman Empire was around, they did a lot of important things that still affect our world today. They built roads and aqueducts that helped people travel and get water. They also came up with cool things like the arch and the dome, which people still use in buildings today.

The Romans also had a big impact on our language - they spoke Latin, and a lot of our words come from Latin. For example, the word "school" comes from the Latin word "schola."

After the Roman Empire fell apart, some of their customs and ideas stuck around in the places they had ruled. For example, in some countries, their law system is based on Roman law. And some people still speak Latin today, even though it's not really used as a spoken language anymore.

So even though the Roman Empire isn't around anymore, their legacy - or the things they did that still matter today - is still all around us!
