ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Leisure sickness

Have you ever been really excited for a vacation or a weekend away, but then ended up getting sick when you finally had some free time? This is called leisure sickness.

Your body is used to being busy and productive, so when you suddenly have some time off, your immune system might lower its defenses, making you more susceptible to getting sick. It's almost like your body is taking a break too, and it's not totally sure what to do without a regular work routine.

Leisure sickness can be caused by a combination of things, like stress, a change in routine, or even your diet. But the good news is that it's usually not too serious and can be treated with rest, hydration, and some TLC.

So next time you're planning a vacation or some time off, make sure to take care of yourself and give your body the time it needs to readjust to a different routine. And remember, even if you do get sick, it's okay to take a break and relax - that's what vacation is all about!
