ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lemnian language

Lemnian language is a very old language that was spoken a loooooong time ago by people who lived on a little island in the sea called Lemnos. This language is special because we don't know much about it and not many people can understand it. It's like trying to read a secret code that only a few people know.

A long, long time ago, people on Lemnos spoke Lemnian language, but over time, they stopped using this language and started using the languages spoken by people who came and went on their island. Now, we don't have a lot of records of Lemnian language and we are not exactly sure how it sounded or how people used it. People who study languages called linguists, have been trying to understand what some of the words in the Lemnian language mean by looking at some of the old writings and objects that people from Lemnos left behind a long time ago.

Today, the Lemnian language is just a memory of a time that happened a long time ago and a puzzle that makes Linguists very curious to learn more about it.
