ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lenaia

Lenaia is a festival that was celebrated a long time ago in ancient Greece in honor of the god Dionysus, who was the god of wine, fertility, and theater. During this festival, people would come together to worship Dionysus and have a big party!

The party would usually involve drinking lots of wine, dancing, singing, and put on plays for each other to watch. People would also wear masks and costumes to dress up like different characters from the plays.

The festival was usually held in the winter, which was a time when there wasn't much else going on and people needed something to cheer them up. Lenaia was a way for people to escape their daily routines and have some fun with their friends and family.

Although Lenaia is not celebrated today, it is still remembered as an important part of Greek culture and history.
