ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Less than truckload shipping

Okay kiddo, so you know how sometimes mommy has a big box that needs to be delivered to someone far away, like grandma's house? Well, sometimes there are lots of boxes like that and they all need to be delivered to different places.

Instead of filling up a whole big truck with just mommy's box, the delivery company takes a bunch of boxes from different people and puts them all in the same truck. This way, the truck saves space and gas, and it's better for the environment too!

This is called less than truckload (LTL) shipping. It means that the delivery company is only using a part of the truck, not the whole truck, to deliver all these different boxes.

And don't worry, mommy's box will still get to grandma's house on time even if there are other boxes on the truck. The delivery company is really good at keeping track of all the boxes and making sure they get to where they need to go.
