Leucothea

Okay kiddo, do you remember the story of the little mermaid? There was a sea witch in that story, right? Well, in Greek mythology, there is a goddess called Ino who lived in the sea and helped sailors who were in trouble. People called her Leucothea.

Leucothea was once a human woman, just like us, but the gods turned her into a glorious and powerful sea goddess because she was kind to sailors. When sailors were in danger, they would pray to Leucothea, and she would come to their aid. She would send her helper, a sea creature, to guide the sailors to safety. Sometimes the helper was a dolphin, other times it was a seal or a fish.

But Leucothea was not just a helper, she was also a protector. She had the power to calm the waves during storms to make it easier for sailors to navigate. Sailors would make offerings to her by tossing coins or precious items into the sea, thanking her for her help.

So, basically, Leucothea is an ancient Greek goddess who helped sailors in trouble and protected them from dangerous sea storms. She was known to be kind and caring, and sailors would often pray to her in times of need.
