Lexical chain

Hey there, kiddo! Do you know how some words are related to each other in a really cool way? That's what we call a lexical chain!

Let me explain it to you. Say, we're talking about animals, and we start with the word "dog". What other words come to your mind when you think of dogs? Maybe "pet", "leash", "walk", "bark", "tail", "fur", "puppy". These words are all related to dogs in some way, right? And if we start talking about puppies, then we might add more words to the chain, like "cute", "playful", "small", "adorable".

So, a lexical chain is like a string of words that are all connected to each other because they relate to the same topic or idea. It's kind of like playing a word association game. Try it out yourself and see if you can come up with your own lexical chains!
