ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Liaison pilot

Okay kiddo, so a liaison pilot is like a helper for airplanes. Sometimes, when an airplane needs to land at a new airport, the pilots might not know the area very well. That's where the liaison pilot comes in!

The liaison pilot is like a friendly guide who knows the area really well. They'll get in their own airplane and fly up next to the other airplane, like a wingman. Then, they'll talk to the pilots over the radio and give them directions on where to go and how to land safely.

It's kind of like if you were lost in a new city and your mom asked a friendly person for help and they guided you to where you needed to go. The liaison pilot is there to make sure the other pilots feel safe and confident, and to help them get to their destination without any trouble.
