ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Liberal hawk

Well, dear, you know how sometimes people disagree on how to solve a problem? Like when your friends want to play one game and you want to play another?

Well, some adults have strong opinions on how to solve bigger problems, like wars and conflicts between countries. Some people who believe in being liberal, which means they want people to have more freedom and equality, might also believe that going to war is sometimes necessary to protect those things.

These people are called liberal hawks because they believe in the use of military force to promote liberal values. They might think that if someone is being treated badly or unfairly, like if a government is not treating their people right, then it's okay to use military force to try and make things better.

But not everyone agrees with this idea. Some people think that going to war is never a good idea and that it causes more problems than it solves. It's important to listen and think about different perspectives before making a decision.
