Okay kiddo, so sometimes people can use numbers to make things seem different than they really are. That's called "statistics".
But sometimes, people can use statistics in a tricky way to make things seem VERY different than they really are. They can even make things up completely! That's called "lying".
So when someone tells a lie and uses statistics to make it seem believable, we call that a "damned lie". It's like when you know someone did something wrong and you say "oh no, that's a very very bad thing!".
So remember, just because someone uses numbers and fancy charts doesn't mean they're telling the truth. You always have to be careful and think about what they're saying, not just what they're showing you.
