ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Line of Contact

Imagine you and your friend are holding hands and standing very close to each other. The part where your hands are touching each other is called the line of contact. It's like an invisible line between you and your friend where you are connected.

Now, imagine you are playing soccer with your friend and you both try to kick the ball at the same time. When your feet hit the ball, there is a line where your foot meets the ball - that line is called the line of contact. It's where your foot and the ball touch each other.

In general, the line of contact is just the point where two things touch each other - it could be your hands and your friend's hands, your foot and the soccer ball, or even a car tire and the road it's driving on. So, whenever two things touch each other, there is a line where they meet - that's the line of contact!
