ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Linlithgow Palace

Linlithgow Palace is a big, old building in Scotland that used to be where important people would live and work a long, looooooong time ago. It was built in the 1400s by a king named James I, and it was used by many of Scotland's kings and queens over the years to do important things like hold meetings and have fancy parties.

The palace was built in a really cool way. It has big stone walls with lots of windows and towers sticking out all over the place. Inside, there are lots of big, fancy rooms with tall ceilings and beautiful decorations. Some of the rooms are so big that you could fit an entire playground inside!

Unfortunately, the palace doesn't look like it used to anymore because it has gone through many changes over the years. In fact, a really long time ago, a big fire broke out and burned down a lot of the palace. That means that some parts of it had to be rebuilt, and the people who live there now try their best to take care of it so it doesn't fall apart.

Today, even though nobody lives there anymore, people still like to go visit Linlithgow Palace to see what it looks like and learn about its history. You can walk around and see all the cool rooms, and even climb up the towers to see what the view is like from way up high!
