ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lipid metabolism

Lipid metabolism is like the way our body handles yummy foods that have fat in them like burgers, fries, and pizza. When we eat these foods, our body breaks down the fat into smaller pieces called fatty acids.

The fatty acids go through a process called beta-oxidation which is like cutting them up into even smaller pieces. These pieces can then be used as energy for our muscles or stored in our body as fat. But too much stored fat is not good for our health, so we need to make sure to balance our diet and exercise to keep it in check.

Overall, lipid metabolism is important to keep our body healthy and maintain our energy levels. Just like eating a balanced meal, we need to balance our lipid metabolism to make sure our body is happy and healthy.
