ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Liquid level

When you pour water into a cup, the water goes up until it reaches a certain point in the cup. This point is called the liquid level. The liquid level is the point at which the liquid stops rising and is equal to the amount of liquid in the cup.

When you pour more water into the cup, the liquid level rises again until it reaches a new point. The liquid level always shows you how much liquid is in the cup.

The liquid level can be measured using different tools like rulers or sensors. These tools help us know how much liquid is in a container so we can use it for cooking, drinking or other purposes.
