Litter in the Netherlands

You know how when you finish eating a snack, you might have some leftover crumbs or wrappers? Well, sometimes people can accidentally or on purpose drop those on the ground instead of throwing them in the trash. That's called litter.

In the Netherlands, people care a lot about keeping their environment clean and tidy. They work hard to make sure that there isn't too much litter around.

There are special people called "street cleaners" who go around cleaning up litter in the Netherlands. They use special machines to pick up the litter and put it in bags to be taken away.

Sometimes, people don't realize that littering is bad for the environment. Litter can hurt animals and plants, and can make cities and towns look dirty and uninviting.

That's why in the Netherlands, they have signs and posters reminding people not to litter. Even kids in school learn about why it's important not to litter, and they do their part to keep their classrooms and playgrounds clean.

So remember, always throw your trash away in the trash can, and never litter on the ground. That way, we can all help keep the Netherlands clean and beautiful!
