Litter in the United States

Litter in the United States is when people throw their trash on the ground instead of putting it in a trash can or recycling bin. It's like when you see pieces of paper or candy wrappers on the sidewalk or in a park. It's not good because it can make our environment look messy and can hurt animals who might try to eat the litter.

In the United States, some cities and towns have laws that make it illegal to litter. This means that if someone is caught throwing trash on the ground, they can get in trouble and could have to pay a fine. Other places have programs that encourage people to throw away their trash properly. For example, some places have signs or posters that remind people to use trash cans.

It's important for us to not litter because it keeps our environment clean and healthy. When we don't litter, animals and plants can live in a clean environment which is good for them. Plus, it just looks nicer when there isn't trash on the ground! So, always remember to throw your trash away in a trash can or recycling bin.
