ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Little England beyond Wales

Once there was a place called England, which is a country with lots of people, cities, and things. It was ruled by a group of people called the British government. The British government controlled many things in England including things like money, laws, and schools.

Now, there was another place called Wales which is also a country, with its own people, cities, and things. However, Wales was not ruled by the British government of England. Wales had its own government with its own rules and laws.

Sometimes, people from England who lived near the border of Wales would go over into Wales to buy things or visit relatives. They called this area "Little England Beyond Wales" because it was a small piece of England that was beyond the border of Wales. Even though this area was in Wales, many of the people who lived there still felt like they were part of England because they spoke the same language and had similar customs.

However, it's important to remember that Wales is its own country with its own people and culture, even if it's not as big or powerful as England. So, while "Little England Beyond Wales" may have felt like a part of England, it's still a small piece of a bigger picture.
