Little Saint Hugh of Lincoln
Okay kiddo, this is a story about a little boy named Hugh who lived a very long time ago in a place called Lincoln, which is in England.
Now, little Hugh was a Christian boy and he liked to go to church and learn about his religion. But one day, he disappeared and nobody knew where he went!
People in the town were very worried and started searching for him everywhere. They looked in all the churches, in the fields, and even in the woods.
Finally, after a couple of weeks, they found him. But the poor little boy was dead! Now, this made people very sad and angry. They wanted to know who did this terrible thing to such a sweet and innocent boy.
They started to investigate and soon they found out that some Jewish people who lived in the town were blamed for it. People thought that the Jewish people kidnapped and murdered Hugh because they wanted to use his blood for their religious rituals.
Now, this is not true at all. The Jewish people did not do such a terrible thing. It was just a rumor that spread among the townspeople because they did not understand the Jewish religion and thought it was strange.
But sadly, because of this false accusation, many Jewish people in the town were arrested, tortured, and even killed. This is called Anti-Semitism, and it's not a good thing at all.
In the end, little Saint Hugh of Lincoln became a symbol of religious prejudice and intolerance. Today, we strive to be tolerant and respectful of all religions, no matter how different they may seem.
