Local government in the United States

Local government refers to the organizations and people that run cities, towns, and counties in the United States. Just like how you have teachers and principals in your school, local government has people called mayors, council members, and commissioners who are in charge.

These local government leaders make decisions on things like building roads, providing water, police and fire departments, and trash collection. They also make sure that people follow the rules, like not littering or speeding.

Local government is important because it helps keep our communities running smoothly. They make sure we have safe roads, clean parks, and that our neighborhoods are safe. It's like having a group of grown-ups who are there to take care of us and make sure everything is okay.
