ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Logical validity

Logical validity is like playing a matching game. Imagine you have two sets of cards, one set with shapes and another set with colors. You have to match the shape with the correct color. For example, a triangle card goes with the blue card.

Now, let's say someone gives you a set of cards that are not in the right order. A triangle card is matched with a yellow card instead of a blue card. This set of cards is not valid because it doesn't make sense.

When we talk about logical validity, we mean the same thing. We have a statement, like "all cars are green." We can use logic to check if this statement makes sense. We can think about what we know about cars and colors, and we realize that not all cars are green, so this statement is not valid.

Just like matching the shapes and colors, we match ideas to see if they make sense together. Logical validity is when our ideas match up in a way that makes sense and is true.
