Lombardic capitals

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a fancy letter at the beginning of a word in a book? That's called a capital letter. Lombardic capitals are a type of fancy capital letter that people used to write in old books a long, long time ago. Lombardic means they come from a place in Italy called Lombardy.

The Lombardic capitals look special because they are very tall and skinny, and they have lots of curls and curves like a fancy design. These letters were usually used to start a new section or chapter in a book and make it look important and fancy.

So imagine you have a really cool book, and you want to make it look extra special and fancy. You can use Lombardic capitals and write the first letter of each chapter in a tall and skinny fancy way. That's how people used to do it a long time ago!
