ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lomekwi

Lomekwi is a place in Kenya where scientists found some special rocks called "stone tools". These stones are not just any ordinary rocks, they were used by our distant relatives a long time ago, almost 3.3 million years ago!

These stones are different from the ones we find lying around in the park because they were shaped and modified by our ancestors to help them do things like cut meat or other foods. Imagine taking a piece of playdough and shaping it into a car or a house. Similarly, our ancestors took rocks and used other rocks to shape them into useful tools.

Lomekwi is special because it has the oldest ever evidence that our ancestors were using tools to help them survive. It's like finding a treasure from a long-lost civilization, and it helps us learn more about our own family history and how our ancestors lived and survived all those years ago!
