London overspill

Okay kiddo, imagine there's a really big city called London where lots and lots of people live. But sometimes there are too many people and not enough places for them all to live comfortably. So, some people have to go and live in other areas around London. These other areas are called "overspill" areas because the people who live there are "spilling over" from London.

Now, you might be thinking, why can't they just build more buildings in London? Well, sometimes there just isn't enough space or money to do that. So instead, the government helps people move to these overspill areas that are not as crowded.

This has been happening since the 1940s when London was bombed during World War II and lots of buildings were damaged. The government needed to find new homes for all the people who lost their homes in the bombings, so they started moving them to areas around London.

Nowadays, overspill is still happening because London is a popular place to live and work. Some people can't afford to live in the city, so they move to nearby towns and cities instead. This helps spread out the population and gives people more options for where to live.

So, in short, London overspill is when people move out of London to other areas nearby because there are too many people living in the city. It helps spread out the population and give people more housing options.
