ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Long Island Iced Tea

Long Island Iced Tea is a special kind of drink that you can have when you are much older. It's not really for kids because it has alcohol in it and alcohol is not good for kids. But when you are much older and allowed to drink alcohol, you can try this special drink if you want.

Long Island Iced Tea is called that because it kind of looks like iced tea, but it's not really tea at all! It's a special mix of different kinds of alcohol and some other yummy stuff that makes it taste like iced tea.

So, when you order a Long Island Iced Tea, the bartender will take a special glass and fill it with ice, just like when you have iced tea. Then they will pour a little bit of vodka, rum, tequila, gin, and triple sec into the glass. These are all different kinds of alcohol, and they make the drink taste really strong!

After the alcohol, the bartender will add some sweet and sour mix. Sweet and sour mix is a special liquid that makes the drink taste sweet and a little tangy, like a lemon. It's what makes the drink taste like iced tea even though there's no actual tea in it.

Then, the final step is to add a splash of cola. Cola is a type of soda that's brown and fizzy, like Coca-Cola or Pepsi. It gives the Long Island Iced Tea a little bit of a bubbly taste.

Once all the ingredients are in the glass, the bartender will give it a little mix to make sure everything is blended together. And that's how you make a Long Island Iced Tea!

Now, it's important to remember that even though it tastes really good, you should never drink too much or have it too often. Alcohol is not good for your body, and it's only for adults because they know how to enjoy it responsibly.

But when you are older, if you want to try a Long Island Iced Tea, you can go to a special place called a bar and ask the bartender to make one for you. Just remember, you have to be responsible and not drink too much because it's not good for your body.
