ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Long focus lens

Imagine that you have a special camera that can see things very far away, like a bird flying high in the sky or a person on a distant hill. However, the camera's normal lens isn't strong enough to get a clear picture of these faraway things.

That's where a long focus lens comes in! It's like putting a telescope on top of your camera, or wearing a pair of glasses that make everything appear closer. The long focus lens zooms in on faraway things and brings them closer to your camera, so you can take a clear and detailed picture.

But, there's a catch. When you zoom in on faraway things, you lose some of the picture around the edges. It's kind of like looking through a tube. So, with a long focus lens, you have to be very careful about what you want to take a picture of, and make sure you position your camera just right to capture what you want.

Overall, a long focus lens is a special tool that helps you see and capture faraway things with your camera.
