ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Longitudinal framing

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a toy car. You can see that the car has a body and wheels, right?

Now, imagine that the body of the car is made up of many long sticks that run from the front of the car to the back of the car. These sticks are called longitudinal frames.

But why do we need these frames? Well, they are super important for making sure the car is strong and can handle bumps and rough roads. The frames help distribute the weight of the car evenly so that it doesn't get too heavy in one spot and tip over.

Longitudinal frames are used in lots of different vehicles, like boats and airplanes too! They are kind of like the backbone of the vehicle - without them, the vehicle would be a wobbly mess.
