ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lost boys (polygamy)

Okay kiddo, I'll explain this to you in a way that's easy to understand. So, there are some families who believe in something called polygamy, which means having more than one wife. These families are usually part of a religion called Mormonism.

One of the consequences of polygamy is that sometimes there are more boys in the family than girls. These boys are sometimes called "lost boys". They may be "lost" because they are kicked out of the family or community or they just leave on their own because they don't feel like they fit in anymore.

You see, sometimes in these polygamous families, the older men take many wives and have lots of children. But, as these boys grow up, there are not enough girls to go around, so they don't get married or taken care of. These boys often don't go to school and don't have a lot of opportunities to succeed in life. They might start living on the streets or get involved in crime or drugs.

It's a really sad situation, and many people are working hard to help these lost boys and raise awareness about the problems with polygamy. It's important to remember that no one should be treated differently or unfairly because of their gender or religion.
