ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Lumberjack

A lumberjack is someone who cuts down trees so that we can use the wood to make things like houses, furniture, and toys. They use big sharp saws called chainsaws to cut the trees down and then they chop the branches off with an ax or a special tool called a hatchet.

The lumberjack has to be really strong and tough because cutting trees is hard work and takes a lot of energy. They also have to be very careful and pay attention to what they are doing so that they don't get hurt or damage the environment around them.

After they cut down the trees, the lumberjack will have to gather up all the branches and other parts of the tree that they don't need and they will often use a big machine called a skidder to drag the logs to a truck that will take them to a sawmill where they will be turned into lumber.

Lumberjacks have been around for a very long time, and they play an important role in helping us get the wood we need for all sorts of things. So next time you see a wooden table or a toy made out of wood, just think about the hard work that went into making it by a lumberjack!
