Mermoz is a French explorer who was born in 1904. He was an aviator and was known for his long-distance flights over the South Atlantic Ocean in the 1930s. He was a courageous explorer, who pushed himself to achieve new heights even when people thought his plans were impossible. During his career, Mermoz made numerous pioneering aviation attempts and eventually set several world records in aviation. In 1936, Mermoz became the first person to fly solo from South America to Africa across the South Atlantic, which was a very dangerous and difficult journey. His accomplishment made him famous and is still celebrated today as a major feat of exploration.
