MINT (economics)

Minting is the process of creating coins out of metal (source: https://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/mint.asp). It's like when you make play-doh shapes with your hands, using metal instead of play-doh. When governments or companies need new coins to use in the economy, they create them by minting. The coins are made with a special metal that is strong and doesn't wear down easily and can then be used for buying and selling goods and services.
