ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Macropsia

Macropsia is a big word. It means seeing things bigger than they really are. Imagine you look at a toy car that is very small, but to you, it looks like a real car that is bigger than it actually is. This is called macropsia.

It can happen for different reasons, like when you're sick or taking some medicines. Some people can also experience it after they've had a strong emotional experience.

Think of it like watching a movie on TV. When you want to see something bigger, you can use a remote to zoom in or out. But when you have macropsia, you can't control it. So everything big looks bigger, and everything small looks gigantic -- even though it's not.

If you ever feel like things around you look bigger than they should, you should tell a grown-up, like your parents or your doctor. They will help you figure out why it's happening and how to treat it.
