Magneto-optic Kerr effect

The magneto-optic Kerr effect is a physical phenomenon that happens when you shine light on a magnetic material. When the light is shone on the magnetic material, the light's polarization can change. This is because the magnetic material changes the direction of the light. It's like the light is bouncing off the magnetic material in a different way than it did before hitting the material.
