Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act

Okay, so a long time ago in India, there was a man named Mahatma Gandhi who wanted to help poor people who lived in the countryside (places without big cities or towns). He thought that if these people had jobs to do, they could earn money to live better lives.

So, the government of India made a law called the "Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act" (MGNREGA). This law says that if people want to work in rural areas, the government will give them work for at least 100 days in a year. This work can include things like building roads, digging wells, planting trees, and other such things.

When people work under MGNREGA, they get paid by the government for their work. This money helps them meet their basic needs like food, clothing, and shelter. And, this law not only helps poor people earn their livelihoods but also helps in improving the infrastructure of rural India.

So, think of it this way - MGNREGA is like your parents giving you pocket money to do chores around the house. And just like you feel proud when you do a good job, the people who work under MGNREGA feel happy that they are contributing to their families and communities.
